Photographer’s Blog: Working With the Über-Talented Rich Lee

Dec 14, 2011 by

My attention was drawn to Rich Lee's MotoGP illustrations some time ago when I stumbled across his work on Facebook. As a long-time graphic designer who has worked with many illustrators, I am often amazed at what folks like Rich are able to do: draw! I can't draw at all. Not even a little bit. Just ask my 7-yr old daughter. "That doesn't look very good, Daddy." Seriously, you'd think a half-way decent dog would be pretty easy to draw. Perhaps I'm a photographer so that I can take a picture of a dog that looks just like a dog.

As a designer I'm also very familiar with the software digital illustrators use to turn their sketches into finished art. I use them for my own projects at a level that doesn't come close to that of which these applications are capable, so when I see a skilled illustrator do the kind of shading and detail evident in Rich's work I'm further amazed and humbled.

Here’s What You Need to Know about Car Relocation

Dec 14, 2011 by

Prior to going further be sure you obtain your instant car insurance quote! Making arrangements for relocating your car via someone you trust or a well known service, can prevent you from making a long drive. If you are moving to a different area, this can be a great choice as your car cannot hold all that you own. It can also be convenient if you’re going on a trip where you want your car but don’t want to drive it all the way to your destination. Following are ideas for car transfer methods made simpler.

When people think about transporting their cars, one of the main concerns they have is that their vehicle will be damaged. While this is understandable, in reality it happens only very rarely, and if it does the company’s insurance should cover it.

Certain precautions still need to be taken, however, to ensure you’re not stuck with damages not covered by the company. You need to abide by all the terms and conditions of your contract such as removing any potentially dangerous items. The most important thing is to closely inspect your vehicle when it arrives at your final destination before you sign off and pay.

Your car must be running properly, no matter how you decide to transport it. Take care of any problems ahead of time. You should have the car serviced before transporting it, including having the fluids checked and topped off. In addition to this, make sure the battery is fully charged and check the tire pressure. If there’s a problem with your car, like a fluid leak, you could be liable for additional charges from the transport company.

Be sure to talk to your insurance company first off if you are going to have someone transport your car individually or via a transport company. You will want your car to be altogether covered regardless of the option you choose. A transport service typically has insurance that covers all things, however always double check this. Make sure you view this before you agree with a signed contract. At worst, you may have to buy extra insurance to cover the transport, but it will be worth it so you can have peace of mind about the safety of your vehicle.

You shouldn’t have any problems with car relocation if you take time to do the necessary research. If you read all the terms and conditions of any contracts, you can avoid any nasty surprises down the road. You may find surprises with the insurance and hidden extra fees. Having your car transported can be the easiest and safest way to have your vehicle arrive at your destination in top condition.

Three Adventure Travel Ideas

Dec 14, 2011 by

You might not need Kids Quad Bikes and even European Breakdown Insurance for this holiday, nevertheless it is still looking to be exciting! Does your family usually eat up all of your vacation time? Are you tired of being made to feel selfish because you want to do something else on your vacation besides sit on a couch and stare at your parents’ television? It’s hard to shake off those feelings of guilt. All the same, don’t you sometimes want to take a vacation you can have fun on? Why not have an adventure on your next vacation? With the weekend adventure options out there you could have your adventure and keep your parents happy at the same time. Here are some adventure travels that you might enjoy.

If you get joy from the outdoors and like to use your survival skills for living off the land, why not go on an Australian Walkabout? These have gained popularity since one of the main characters form the television show Lost attempted to go on one. The idea behind an Australian Walkabout is that you and your fellow adventurers head out into the Australian Outback with a guide. When you get out on a walkabout, you are only living off the land. You hunt and gather all your food, build your shelter from materials on the land and take on all the “elements”that may come your way (weather, animals, etc). It is similar to extreme camping and can give you a natural high.

Are you a hunter but looking for different game to hunt than what is available in your area? Why not get out on a hunting travel excursion?

Nearly every continent has a specific type of tour and companies that will teach you how to hunt the game available on their local terrain. Do you dream of hunting large (non-endangered) game in Africa? You can make it happen. Do you desire to get out to the Wild West in America and hunt their game? You can do that also. The hardest decision for a hunting excursion is figuring out what kind of animal you desire to hunt. Next it is as simple as figuring out logistics like: “how can I get my hunting equipment out there or will the outfit me with the necessities?”

Have you ever dreamed about taking a deep-sea fishing trip? For a majority of people, fishing doesn’t enter their minds when they dream about adventure travels. In any respect, fishing becomes a whole different ball game when you are out on the big blue sea. Besides wrangling typically larger fish, you are also dealing with the ocean elements. Possibilities are endless when you’re out at sea. After you decide what type of deep-sea fish you want to wrangle into a boat, you’ll be able to figure out your destination. However, if you would rather, you can also choose your target location by the climate and “home base”scenery. Hawaii is one revered location for deep-sea fishing.

Adventure travels don’t have to be unrestricted, ritzy and unconventional. Some of them include daytime journeys, while returning you to an enjoyable ambience for the evening. The main goal of an adventure vacation is just to have fun and get your blood pumping. Fortunately, there are adventures for just about everyone – even if they only have a couple days worth of vacation to accomplish it. When you begin making arrangements for your next vacation, why not participate in an adventurer’s lifestyle? You can go to a calming spa for another vacation. And also do not neglect to take your leica disto d3 just in case!

DC Moto TF Ride Day with Josh Hill

Dec 14, 2011 by

In the 2010 AMA Supercross Championship series, Josh Hill consistently found himself on the podium. He ended the season sixth overall in points, in which he finished second in 5 of the 17 Main Events. In July, Josh spent time preparing for the ‘Speed and Style’ event for X Games 16. His practice session went from ‘landing a backflip on his first attempt’ to ‘under rotating the next time around.’ This horrific crash sent Josh to the hospital with a list of injuries and a whole new respect for the sport of Freestyle Motocross. I caught up with Josh, at Pala Raceway for the DC Moto TF Ride day, where he talked about his rehabilitation, his plans for Supercross 2011, and more!

Josh Hill at the DC Moto TF Ride Day

Angela: Hey Josh, you are looking good. How are you feeling?

Josh: Yeah I am getting better, everything is starting to heal up and I am getting to where I can function normally again. So it is getting better, but I need to focus on getting my body stronger. That is my main thing right now.
