In August of last year I posted a desktop wallpaper on my website of the above image with a bit of information about the championship trophy's creator, GARCIAROJALS Studio in Barcelona. I'd seen the trophy up close for the first time while it was on display in the lobby of the mobile Dorna HQ building that travels to the European rounds. I was very impressed by the workmanship and design. It's quite a beaufitul bit of art, and I was pleased to share the above photo with others who shared that opinion.

Pol Espargaro was the fastest Moto2 rider out of the box on the first of three days of testing for the Moto2 class at Valencia. The Spaniard, who has switched to join Sito Pons' team for 2012, was two tenths faster than his new teammate Tito Rabat, who rode for the BQR team in 2011. Scott Redding was 3rd fastest, matching the time of Rabat and very pleased with the new bike, the Marc VDS team having switched to Kalex for 2012. Andrea Iannone was the first non-Kalex rider on the timesheets, the Italian also switching chassis, going back to use an FTR chassis for next season. Aleix Espargaro was the first of the Suter riders, the older of the Espargaro brothers having vacated the bike taken by his younger brother Pol to join Aspar, while Gino Rea was the fastest man on a Moriwaki, the British rider close to a deal with the Gresini team to bring his Russian sponsor into Moto2 for 2012.

Kicking off on Friday during Supercross Weekend in Las Vegas and adding a new event in Sacramento
The 2012 GEICO AMA EnduroCross Series, presented by Lucas Oil will kick off on Friday, May 4th at the Orleans Arena during the Monster Energy Supercross finals weekend. A new event in Sacramento California on Saturday, June 9th will serve as round two and the point standings after these two opening rounds will also be used to qualify riders for the 2012 X Games Enduro X, which will serve as round three for the Expert riders.
The EnduroCross series will then take a summer break before returning to Ontario California, which was a big success during the first visit in 2011. Denver Colorado will be next on the schedule followed by Everett Washington, Boise Idaho and the traditional Las Vegas finals. The series will increase from seven to eight events in 2012.
?We are excited about the continued growth and awareness of EnduroCross since it provides great opportunities to showcase the talent of some of the top off-road motorcycle riders in the world?, stated Mike Karsting, VP of Events for Source Interlink. ?The two new events this season in Ontario and Boise had great crowds and we feel that Sacramento will prove to be another winner due to the strong off-road motorcycle market in Northern California?.

Down in Texas, construction crews were hard at work building ‘America’s premier racing circuit,’ but work has been stopped on the Circuit of The Americas track due to flap over contracts for the Formula One Grand Prix race scheduled for the track.
“We’re suspending further construction of the project until a contract assuring the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix will be held at Circuit of The Americas in 2012 is complete,” said Bobby Epstein, a founding partner of CofA. “While construction at Circuit of The Americas has progressed as scheduled with over 300 workers at the construction site daily, all work will suspend immediately. The delivery of the Formula One Grand Prix race contract will allow construction operations to resume.”
According to Epstein, a tremendous amount of work and resources have gone into the track with the expectation that Formula One would race at the circuit in 2012.
“We have spent tremendous resources preparing for the Formula One and MotoGP? Championship races, but the failure to deliver race contracts gives us great concern,” said Epstein.
“It is in the best interest of all parties to reach a timely resolution,” said Red McCombs, chairman of McCombs Enterprises and founding partner of Circuit of The Americas. “Local businesses, fans and the State of Texas are counting on us.”
MotoGP is scheduled to visit Texas in 2013 at the Circuit of the Americas a few miles from the state capital of Austin.
The planned $300-plus-million facility signed MotoGP and Formula One to 10-year contracts earlier this summer.
F-1 was set to make its inaugural stop at CotA next year, while the U.S. plays host to two rounds of the MotoGP World Championship: the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca held in July and August?s Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Laguna is signed to a three-year contract which runs through 2014 and the Indy venue saw the current contract ends this year.
Designed by Tilke GmbH of Aachen, Germany, the 20-turn Texas track is set on 350 acres and will be 3.4 miles in length with elevation changes of some 133 feet.

The Aspar team have today announced that their Moto2 line up is now complete. With the signing of 2010 Moto2 champion Toni Elias to race alongside 2011 125cc champion Nico Terol, Aspar has a full complement of riders to face the 2012 season. Elias had been linked to rides with both Gresini – the team with which he won the inaugural Moto2 championship – and Aspar, and had finally settled on the Spanish squad. After a long and very difficult year in MotoGP, Elias is hoping to return to winning again in Moto2, while his teammate Terol is focused solely on learning to adapt to the Moto2 machines, this being the first time he has raced a four stroke.
Aspar actually has more than a full complement of riders, in fact. The Spanish team had previously announced that they had signed Aleix Espargaro to race in Moto2 for the team, and the Spaniard, elder brother of Pol, tested the Suter Moto2 bike with the Aspar team on the first day of testing at Valencia on Wednesday. But with nobody yet signed for Aspar's CRT machines in MotoGP – almost certain to be Aprilias, based on the RSV4 engine with a different frame designed and built by Aprilia – Espargaro is likely to move up to race in the premier class.
